NYCC 09 is NOT on Superbowl Weekend
Is it the NFL spreading this rumor? The Freemasons? I've heard it like 5 times, but no, once and for all, NYCC 2009 is February 6-8 the Superbowl is 2/1.
On this subject, I'm going to meet with the Javits Center on Monday to discuss NYCC dates for 2010 and beyond, plus the idea of finding more space for next year. I want you to know that we are working on making sure our panel room gridlock situation does not occur again......
Please bring your leftover Superbowl Sunday 7 layer bean dip to NYCC next year, I'll be looking for it.
Lastly a prediction - I'll be wearing purple at the con next year because my hometown Vikings just won the Superbowl, THE PREVIOUS WEEKEND!

This was my first year at NYCC and had a great time. I have been an irregular regular at the SDCC since 1991 so certainly not a con newbie.
I enjoyed myself quite a bit, and found the time of year for the show to be just about right. I am a little concerned about next years though. The thought of traveling to NYC in early February has my cockles shrinking. I know there is no way to change 2009, but will 2010 be looking at a little more spring like setting?
Its totally rediculous that you feel the need to discuss the Super bowl, or anyting else. Hey, make the Con whenever, and let people chose thier priority. Period.
I am a jew, but all of the a$$ kissing you had to do because of Passover was embarassing. Catholics did not complain that they had to choose between watching the Pope serve mass in America and going to the con, so why did our community have to complain? We justt made ourselves look like a bunch of whinning babies. Religious things and sports things go on every day in this metling pot called the USA. To worry about who will be offended is bull$hit.
If the con is on the superbowl, so be it. People will just have to choose. If it is on Passover or easter, so be it. People will just have to choose. If it is on Greek Orthodox Easter, so be it (you get the idea).
Honestly, the crying, complaining and whinning is just too much. So embarassed by my people's belly aching this year. Hey...do we wever wonder why there is so much hostility against us in society??? Maybe this kind of thing has something to do with it.
For the record, I went to the con each day until 4PM. Got home in plenty of time for family obligations. End of story.
I was going to talk my friends into coming next year, but driving down to NYC in February...? Don't think it will happen.
And teh gridlock was pretty bad for teh forums, expecially when we weren't even allowed downstairs to get to the rooms! Here's a hint, how about opening up more of teh food stalls so everyone doesn't have to crowd into the food court.
Why does it have to be February again?! It's COLD in Feb! Will we get to line up inside again? It's COLD in Feb! (LOL) Seriously though, NYCC was blessed with a beautiful weekend this year. Awesome timing, awesome show. Here's looking to 2009 and beyond!
