A Stan Update – Get Your Ticket To The Big Shindig!
Whew, I feel like the Page 6 Editor gossiping here, but the VIP line up for the New York Comics Legend Award party (Thursday night in Times Square) is pretty smoking hot. The party is going to be excellent, and you still have a chance to go, click here to get a ticket. The art pictured here is what the VIP passes will look like for the event. Not too bad…..
In other Stan news, he will be doing a few signings at NYCC, with the main one taking place from 5-6pm on Saturday (in a room we’ll announce later). You’ll need a ticket for this. So how do you get one?
Here are a few of the panels Stan will be on during the con. I’m pretty sure there will be a couple more, but I can’t say for sure right now…..

Professionals will allegedly have a "Professionals Only Entrance". Is this fact or fiction? Or will they have to stand on the same single line to get in and make the mad dash.
Will you be able to get tickets to more than one autograph session at once? For example, I see that Stan Lee and Frank Miller are autographing at the same time (arrgh!). Can I get tickets for both, or are there limits?
I'll blog the details of entrances and exits sometime ths weekend, but yes, lots more entrances and exits!
towniebastard, it'll be one ticket per signing per person. Make sense?
Hey, wouldn't it be better to hand out the autographs tickets to the first some many people in line or at the registration booths like it was done in the pass years. I think it is a lot safer than having people making a run to somewhere in the back to get tickets. I just don't have a good feeling about that plan.
Yeah, guys. Seriously think about something other than "mad dash." I know you guys need to drum up excitement, but I'm old enough to remember the Festival Seatig disaster at that Who concert in Cincinnatti back in 1979. I'm not suggesting that something that terrible would happen here*, but there is the possibility that someone could get hurt. Besides, it looks like the opening for a great lawsuit if someone DOES trip and fall, twisting or breaking an ankle or some such.
*Avoiding jokes about typical comics fans and fitness. ;)
I remeber the WKRP episode about the festival seating situation in Cincinnatti......
Really, the system for tickets we used last year did not work. It was not democratic and fair and a lot of people were left out. This is the best system we could envision after MANY conversations on the subject. I said "mad dash" as a joke. My point is, there will be one line into the con, thus one line for tickets. Really, you have to trust me, this is the best option we could come up with and we did not make the decsion quickly. If it does not work well, we'll adjust it for 09, but thus far the systems we have used have not provided good service to the fans - that's why we are at this point.

Just looked at the revamped Autograph lineup and Eva Mendes and Frank Miller were removed. That pretty much ruined Saturday for me.
Lance,
Thanks for your feedback about the ticketed autographs. I guess there is really no best way to do it. There will still be unhappy people, but it is just that I an afraid without having con and convention center security to make sure there is a calm collective walked to the back in a single file line. Something may get out of hand with people trying to make a run back to the area to get the tickets and risking injury to themselves or someone else who happens to be in their way.
I was happy last year to bought the VIP tickets because I allowed me to get the autograph tickets without waiting in a long line for them.
I just am disappointed that this years $400 VIP ticket didn't include any autograph tickets.
I ended up buying the VIP pass because, I didn't want to be in the same situation I was last year where the staff had signs posted inside stating that the lines will be staged at 7 A.M. inside and only to end up making a lot of fans stand outside of the cold till almost 9 AM. The ability to walk in without waiting in line made very appealing to buy that expensive ticket. So I hope this VIP will be worth the huge price tag you guys charged for this.
One more question/concern. What happen with the Frank Miller and Eva Mendes signing? They were listed in the autograph signings the other day but now they are not? Are they going to be signing at all? Any updates on other Stars signing like Ron Perlman, Selma Blair?
Any help on this would be appreciated. Thank you!
What happened to the Mendes/Miller? I don't know! To my knowledge, nothing has chnaged they are still doing the signing, but we have been swapping out autographing files all day long on the web. Give it til the end of the day, ok?

Hey Lance,
Thanks for the update for the Autograph times. I forgot to ask this question regarding a single line to get for the autograph tickets.
I have the VIP and suppose to be able to go through the professional entrance. In order to get any of autographs tickets being given out. Will I have to wait in the same line as regular admission lines?
Or do I still wait to get in through the VIP line to compete to get to the back before the regular line?
Thanks, William
fistofsmith - for the signing tickets, yu will wait in the same line at 3pm friday ar 10am Saturday/Sunday to get signing tickets.....
