Dan Pink Comes to NYC!

Lance likes Dan Pink. No, Lance loves Dan Pink. Dan's the author of The Adventures of Johnny Bunko: The Last Career Guide You'll Ever Need, and, to be frank, Lance has a man crush on him. While Lance is currently sipping maple syrup martinis in Maine, I could hear his excitement all the way back down here in NYC when he learned our friends at Japan Society are welcoming Dan in October.

Dan Pink is coming to NYC's Japan Society to host Dan Pink's Adventures in Manga on Monday, October 6 at 6:30 PM. Dan will be speaking about the business lessons Americans can learn from the wild world of Japanese comics. Specifically, he'll draw on his research in Japan as well as on his own efforts as a manga creator to take us inside the world of Japan's dojinshi -- amateur manga that remix and repurpose popular titles into new creations -- to show us how copyright-busting fans are actually helping the Japanese manga industry and how this attitude can help business in America. Dan's presentation will be followed by a reception and book signing.

The Japan Society is located 333 East 47th Street, NY, NY 10017. Tickets are $10 ($8 for Japan Society members and $5 for students and seniors.)

You should go. You know you want to. Dan's pretty amazing. And you'll get to see Lance and me getting into a cocktail drinking contest. I had 10 Spidertinis at New York Comic Con in the Spring!
