Tahmoh Penikett Joins Joss Whedon at NYCC! And An Important Autograph Ticketing Update!

New York Comic Con is proud to announce updates to the Dollhouse events going on at NYCC on February 8, 2009. We previously announced that Joss Whedon would be conducting a Dollhouse panel from 12:45 to 1:45 PM on Feb 8 in the IGN Theater as well as an autograph signing from 2 to 3 PM in the Autograph Area in the rear of the Exhibition Hall.

What was the reaction to this? A whole lot of OMGs as well as questions about if any cast would be joining Joss and if Joss's signing was ticketed. Let's start with ticketing. It wasn't. The original autograph plan was not to have tickets of any kind for Joss; however, we received quite a few e-mails from fans who were concerned. If they were in the Joss panel, how'd they get to the Joss autographing right after? It's an honest and good question. In all likelihood, if you're in the Dollhouse panel, if you head off toward the signing, there'll be 3,000 people there by the time you show up. As such, we went back to FOX, and after discussions, it was decided to turn the Dollhouse signing into a ticketed event.

Tickets to the signing will be distributed first come, first served, via a lottery, and at the VIP Lounge on Sunday, February 8. For more details, visit the Autograph page at nycomiccon.com. Please note (unlike other autographing tickets) these tickets won't be available online prior to the show. The only ways to get autograph tickets for Dollhouse are first come, first served, via a lottery, and at the VIP Lounge on Sunday, February 8.

We pushed for this change because of all the feedback we received on this blog and in our inboxes, and we hope this change alleviates a lot of questions and concerns.

But, wait, why'd I call the Joss signing the "Dollhouse signing"? Is someone joining him? Yes. New York Comic Con is pleased to announce that Dollhouse star Tahmoh Penikett will be appearing at New York Comic Con on Sunday, February 8! Tahmoh portrays FBI agent Paul Ballard on Dollhouse (and you may also know him as Helo on Battlestar Galacticia). Tahmoh will be speaking at the Dollhouse panel from 12:45 to 1:45 PM on Feb 8 in the IGN Theater as well as signing beside Joss at the autograph signing from 2 to 3 PM in the Autograph Area in the rear of the Exhibition Hall.

NYCC hopes this ticket addition satisfies fans, and we know Tahmoh's name is music to everyone's ears!

I can see it says First Come, First Served, but do you know when you will distribute these?

Are *all* of them being handed out on Sunday, or just the VIP tickets?

thanks!

Shawn

I'm sorry, what's a first come, first served lottery? Seems to be a bit of an oxymoron to me - will the tickets be first come, first served, or will there be a lottery?

Read the autograph page people. It's both. There is the allotment that are handed out first come first surve....and also an allotment avaible in the lottery.

For once I am on the Cons side in this matter.

Question.
The NYCC Autograph page says "Any of the names listed in bold require a ticket. "
ALL the names on the autograph page are in bold. Does that mean ALL those people signing now require tickets??

No. Scroll more down the page. Its just five or six names that are ticketed. They've been so for the past month. Wheedons the only new name

So those without VIP passes only have the lottery as an opportunity for tickets?

I wish they would have been available presale, cause I would have paid pretty much anything to get one.

So what time shall everyone be heading down on Sunday to try and nab a ticket for the signing?

Do you have to be there the day of for a first-come, first-served ticket? Or can you get one on Friday or Saturday?

Question - This article lists the time of the Dollhouse panel as 12:45 - 1:45, but the Comic Con website still lists it as being from 1-2pm. Anyone know what the actual time of the panel will be?

12:45

I guess that's it, then, for the TV and movie panels. Methinks it'll be a little nuts on Sunday morning, but I agree this is the best possible way to do it.

What time are you guys going to head down there on Sunday morning?

Did I mis-read earlier, wasn't Eliza Dushku going to be at the show & signing too? Perhaps I just saw the pic on the main page and thought that... am I mistaken?

I don't think this was clarified: Is Sunday the only day you can pick up a ticket, or can you get one earlier?

If you have a retailor pass, are you still allowed to stand in line to get a ticket to the signing?

would have been better if the people attending the panel would get a ticket for the signing, kinda like what milo is doing for the people attending his panel.

If I dont get to meet Joss Whedon I promise to make the stinkiest fart ever, that no one will want to come back to this convention.

Cant Wait for this!

Really no BSG panel this year?

...

Really?

Paul said...

No BSG panel indeed, after one of the finest hours of television I've ever seen, IMO, last night?

Also, with the amount of money ($300) that IGN VIP'ers had to pay for that ticket, are there really going to be just 8 events in the IGN Theatre the entire weekend? That averages to about $37 per event. I hope the NYCC website is right in that 'most movie and TV panels still have yet to be announced'. Or maybe this will be it. :(

The panel lineup in last years IGN panel was great. It seems to be a weak line up of panels in the IGN theatre so far. What about panels for movies like Wolverine, Star Trek, GI Joe. Fringe panel should have been IGN worthy.

Well see by the middle of next week if there are any more annoucements for panels.

I am still concern with having all those stars out in the open autograph area. I just don't want what happen last year at the Eva Mendes signing. Lack of crowd control which lead to Eva walking out on her fans who had autograph tickets.

I would rather see autograph signings of hollywood or the big name stars doing the autograph sessions in a seperate room like they did the first year with Milla Jovovich. It was in a control enviroment.

I can see problems when Eva Myles, Joss Weadon as well as the cast of Fringe trying to do their signings in the open area.

Anyway I hope either get a ticket or able to win a chance to meet Joss.

See ya the con.

Oh man!
This is such great news. :D
Getting a ticket to the signing is going to be battle, I can already see it...

Well, so much for that. I must have been the only person happy about no tickets. I was gonna go Sunday just for Joss but now there is no sense. Since tickets are given out at 6:45 and I have to take a train there, I am not taking a 3am train when there will probably be a mob already waiting. It will be a waste of money for me. At least with the no tickets I could have just waited on line for the autograph early. So, thank you very much to all the complainers out there about no tickets. You just ruined my weekend.
