NYCC And Disney•Pixar Present The First 50 Minutes Of UP

We are proud to announce that the first 50 minutes of Disney•Pixar’s 10th film, UP, will screen for the first time at New York Comic Con. UP is a comedy adventure about 78-year-old balloon salesman Carl Fredricksen, who finally fulfills his lifelong dream of a great adventure when he ties thousands of balloons to his house and flies away to the wilds of South America. But he discovers all too late that his biggest nightmare has stowed away on the trip: an overly optimistic 9-year-old Wilderness Explorer named Russell. From the Academy Award-nominated director Pete Docter (Monsters, Inc.), Disney*Pixar's UP invites you on a hilarious journey into a lost world, with the least likely duo on Earth.

Disney•Pixar’s UP screening will be introduced by director Pete Docter and producer Jonas Rivera on Saturday, February 7 at 6:30pm in the IGN Theater at New York Comic Con. Please note seating is EXTREMELY limited and interested attendees are recommended to arrive at 5:30 PM for a security check-in. No cameras, phones, or recording devices will be allowed at the screening, and all must be checked at the door.

Stop with all the cool stuff!!! I'll never get out to dinner on Saturday night!

Interesting, but does the security check-in mean that the IGN Theater will be CLEARED OUT before the screening? I know in the past people have simply sat in the IGN Theater and camped for several panels in a row...

The theater will be totally cleared out before this screening.

We won't be clearing the IGN for any events other than UP. So, you're free to sit through all our Friday and Sunday events -- and everything on Saturday before UP. But, because of the magnitude of this screening, Disney*Pixar will be needing the room cleared first and all cameras and phones checked.

Mr. Tatara, Mr. Fensterman, you both said that "the IGN theater will be totally cleared out before the Up screening."

Yatterman World Priemiere follows after this according to your schedule.

Will you be clearing the people who saw Up out of the IGN theater, so that us Otaku, waiting outside, can get a seating for the Yatterman Screening. Or do we have to sit through the Up priemere, so we can stay in the IGN theater to see Yatterman afterwards.

I say this because many people who want to see Yattermen, and those who don't, will take every seat to see Up and stay there after that movie finishes, then see Yatterman afterwards. While those of us not interested in seeing Up and waiting outside the IGN Theater for seating will be told by your staff, security and volunteers that the IGN theater is full for the Yattermen Premiere and we can't go inside to see it, then they turn us away.

If Disney/Pixar wants to play lock down to protect their own interest that's fine, but they got to play fair for us non-Disney/Pixar fans who could get cheated out of seeing a World Premiere Yatterman because Disney/Pixar watchers, who will have taken every single seat, will get to stay in their seats to see Yatterman while the rest of us waiting outside don't get to see it.

Grant Morrison cancelled his appearance at NYCC due to family issues, sadly:

In a prepared statement, Grant Morrison said: “As a result of family issues, I won’t be able to make it to the New York ComicCon this week. My apologies to everyone, and particularly to the readers I won't get a chance to meet this time around due to circumstances beyond my control. See you next time.”

Lance / Peter:

Will the IGN Theater VIPs still have their seating for this screening? I am assuming we should, since this is exactly what we paid money to get.

The NYCC website says 2:30 to 3:30pm.

I am scared because I will stay for the screening. And then I will not get a spot. How early are you guys coming.

IGN VIPS -
IGN VIPs are -- of course -- guaranteed a seat to UP. If you have an IGN VIP pass, you have a seat to all events in the IGN Theater. Just make sure you arrive around 5:30 for the security check.

YATTERMAN -
There is no Yatterman screening on Saturday night. The World Premiere of Yatterman is at the DGA Theater on Friday. Please see our Yatterman post we posted a few hours before this UP post for more details. There was originally a follow-up in the IGN on Saturday; however, this was removed recently after a recent update from Japan. If you'd like to attend the World Premiere of Yatterman, there's no cost, but you'll need a ticket from the Nikkatsu booth on the show floor.

Peter, what time do you recommend coming to this???

When you say recording devices will be checked at the door, does that mean someone will be taking good care of our expensive equipment or we'll be denied entrance? :)
