Don’t bother attending, what a disappointment!!!!!! For the first hour, there was ZERO interaction with the audience. If you ask what's on the agenda, most of the organizers will act as though you are bothering them with your questions. Is that how you treat who take an interest in your event? When someone finally got on the mic to announce the events of the day, you had to get up and practically get in front of his face, because the acoustics in the place made it hard to hear what he said.
So what was on the agenda for the June 10th event? They held three rounds of trivia questions. Of course, almost everyone googled the answers. As a result there was like a 13 way tie. So how was the tie broken?
WITH A SPORTS QUESTION!!!!
Keep in mind that most responded with either a dumbfounded look or "WHAT?!?" So I ask you, what do sports have to do with the Comics? I left after that. It didn't make sense to stay and spend a bucket load of money on drink/food (2 beers for $20!!!) to not get a thing for my troubles.
A NOTE TO THE ORGANIZERS:
1. The people that show up to the happy hour events are your loyal fans. Give them something for their show of loyalty. You know you could have free stuff the companies that are promoting their products. You had about 20 posters on the walls promoting a movie; you could have given that as a consolation prize to those in the 13 way tie.
2. STICK TO THE CONTENTS OF THE EVENT!!!! Sports have nothing to do with Comics.
3. Choose a place you can section off so we can hear you. The mic doesn’t help in an open area.
4. Try to get a comic con discount on drinks and food. Or at least don't pick such an expensive place.
5. Rethink your strategy to get your fans back!!!! This event was poorly planned.
