AKB48! NYAF!
AKB48. Do you know who they are? If not, you'll need to very quickly, as they're coming to the New York Anime Festival!
AKB48 is a female music group created in 2005 by songwriter Yasushi Akimoto. The group was born under the concept of "idols you can meet everyday" and is based in Akihabara, the center of Japanese anime and manga culture. Members of AKB48 regularly appear in movies, television shows, and theater, and they are on top of Japan's pop culture consciousness, singing at Japan's biggest New Year's Eve broadcast, joining Prime Minister Taro Aso for cherry-blossom viewing, hosting their own weekly television show, and collaborating with artist Takashi Murakami on multiple projects. They perform almost everyday at their own theater in Akihabara, have performed internationally in Paris, and now they're coming to NYC!
AKB48 will hold a Q&A session, autographing, and short concert at the Jacob Javits Center on Saturday, September 26, and the musical group will then present a free concert at Webster Hall New York City on Sunday, September 27th.
You heard me right. For more details on AKB48's trip to NYAF and NYC -- and specifics of their Webster Hall New York City concert, keep your eyes on www.mediumatlarge.net, www.nyanimefestival.com, and www.akb48.co.jp/english/index.html. Japan has fallen in love with AKB48, and we're excited for their American debut, as we have no doubt the USA will fall in love with them, too!

Thanx guys from bringing AKB to NY!
But let me give you an advice: You should have done the official announcement before if you had the confirmation already. Many people felt you were fooling them!
Anyways, THANX!
Go AKB!
BEST NEWS EVER!
I've been waiting for the announcement/confirmation for weeks!!
Hopefully we'll get the detail soon.
Thanks for bring AKB48 to New York!!!
Anime and fans of other groups, word to the wise: Let AKB fans have their time to shine during the AKB48 events.
Do the VIP benefits also extend to AKB48's concert and autograph session?
Do the press passes also work for AKB48 events?
Thanks! I know Japanese press reported AKB48 was coming to NYC earlier in the summer, but we couldn't say a word until today. (We weren't holding the news back, and we would have made it official sooner if we could.)
As for info for Press and VIPs, details are coming soon.
Finally!
Been sitting on the edge of my chair spamming F5 on several sites since the news leaked during Japan Expo in Paris earlier this summer. :)
Thanks a lot for bringing AKB to NYC and America.
Do you know anything about which girls they will send? I understand you might not be able to reveal it right now if you do know, but please do as soon as you can. :)
Yatta! AKB in NYC!

hi Peter Tatara do you need to get an early NYAF pass: internet sign up to participate in the AKB48 raffle? or Does this mean that people who are attending NYAF who would purchased it at the day of the convention can't qualify for the raffle?
The concert was awesome!!!!!
