SUPER IMPORTANT - Message About Friday at NYCC

Attention fans, we need your help to make your con going experience on Friday as hassle free and dry as possible! Please, please, please for the love of rain slickers, do not come early for the con on Friday. Due to a quirky space issue at the Javits this year , we do not have indoor queuing available on Friday, thus all lines will be outdoors until we open the doors and halls at 10am.

If you show up at 10am or later after the doors open it will be much easier and drier for you, if you do insist on coming before doors open at 10am please come prepared to be in the weather - this means umbrellas, rain coats, slickers and those rubber things that cover your shoes that my dad always called rubbers, which made me smirk.

Again, here is the deal: We will have 2 lines off of 37th and 38th street, one for those with tickets and one for those that need to pick up tickets (meaning they have bar codes). The have ticket door will not open until 10am to enter the building and the halls. If you need to pick up tickets, we can process your bar codes to get tickets before 10, but you will still be in the have tickets line until 10. Make sense? The best thing is to come a little before or at 10.

Thanks for understanding and preparing.

PS - No Blackberry service for the entire team makes communication a challenge, sorry!

-Lance

I have a proffessionals pass, does that mean we pros cannot enter the building until 10am?

Shades of NYCC 2007 where the lines just snakes around the center and several blocks up 11th Ave. That was a hour after the doors were open and it took another hour waiting just to reach the front entrance. So not looking forward to this again.

what about a press pass?

As the Press Room opens at 8am Friday, Saturday, and Sunday Press badge holders don't have to wait in line with the Friday regular ticket holders. WOuld be good ot have confirmation but I believe this applies to Friday only people.

Pros have never been allowed in prior to 10am so why would it change this year?

i'm with HK...i'm coming from NJ and will just be taking the first bus i can get in (which will get me there around 8:00 as well)....i remember the horrors of the first few years (remember having to stand out in Feb weather for three hours with no coat cuz i had checked it before being told we had to stand outside!).
seems since a con is scheduled a year or more in advance that the Javits would know better than to treat us so poorly! 2nd largest event in NYC SHOULD get more respect;)
but i'll be bringing my rain coat and umbrella and i guess plastic garbage bags to cover anything i have to bring with me.
(now...where did i store those duck shoes from high school???)

Is there a way that ticket holders could pick up tickets on Thursday, so as to speed up the process for everyone else on Friday?

I like how you screw anime fans, with signing ticket system: "Autograph tickets will be distributed first come, first served to fans beginning at 6 AM each day of the show" - http://www.newyorkcomiccon.com/Whats-Happening/New-York-Anime-Festival/Japanese-Guest-of-Honor-Autographs/

So, basically we have no choice. Maybe I should bring a tent?

Hey guys, not have any blackberry service during the show really sucks! I feel cut off, but I will do my best to answer everything here.

The outdoor lines for Friday suck, and I'm sorry. We are working with what we have and we will do our very best.

Answers:

Anyone can pick up badges on Thursday - of any kind - and if you can, do it!

Press, VIPs and pros enter through the blue doors as usual. They will queue up in frot of the 3E and 3B halls.

The line will be long Friday but I maintain that coming at 1030 or 11 you will wait much less than coming at 8. Once the crowd and lines clear, we can safely open all the entrances, this things will flow much faster.

Halo, we are not trying to screw anyone. Sorry you feel at way. We do not control the weather.

Weather is not a big deal, I just can't get why the ticket system was so necessary since the signing is free. Oh, well.

Btw, you're missing one japanese guest in your list. Former editor of shonen jump, Sasaki Hisashi, going to the con https://twitter.com/#!/SASAKI_Hisashi/status/123932193935470593

I bought tickets on Saturday to go on Sunday, can I pick up my tickets tomorrow 2 days from Sunday so I don't have to make a line to pick up tickets on Sunday.

I wasn't able to get there today to pick up my professional pass. do i go ahead and get on the ticket line?

So no indoor lines. Will pro pass holders go in different way just like we did on Thursday(today)?

Why do we need to be there at 6am to get a ticket to get an autograph from Miro, Thats insane.

Jason Linetsky said...

That still begs the question: Do people wanting the autograph tickets still show at 6am? I'm Press/VIP so the line thing means nothing much to me but being there that early in the morning does.

If you come at 10 or a little later, the only thing you will miss is standing in line, getting wet and annoyed. I was there today and realize that I had wasted and hour of valuable time standing in line when I could have just as well come at 4 and strolled right in.
