Star Wars At Large: Ben Burtt Comes To Celebration

This just in from the galax far, far away... Ben Burtt, sound designer, supervising sound editor, and picture editor on the Star Wars saga, will be attending Star Wars Celebration VI this August in Orlando, FL, appearing on the stages as well as greeting fans in the Autograph Hall. Burtt, best known for his Oscar-winning sound effect and sound design work, will also share some of his unique insights on motion picture editing.  Ben's been announced today along with fellow sound editors Matthew Wood and David Acord!  Keep on reading for Celebration's new guests' bios...

Ben Burtt: Benn Burtt has more than 30 years of experience as a writer, director, film editor, sound designer and sound mixer. His work includes documentaries, network television movie specials, and educational, specialty and feature films. Burtt received Special Achievement Awards for the creation of the alien, creature and robot voices featured in Star Wars and for Sound Effects Editing for Raiders of the Lost Ark; he won Oscars® for Sound Effects Editing for E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982) and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989). He has also earned nominations in the Sound category for Return of the Jedi (1983) and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade; in Sound Effects Editing for Return of the Jedi, Willow (1988) and Star Wars: Episode IThe Phantom Menace (1999); and in Sound Editing and Sound Mixing for WALL·E (2008). Burtt recently created special sound effects and montages for Star Trek (2009), a restored edition ofWings (1927), and served as sound designer and supervising sound editor on Super 8 (2011). He was picture editor as well as sound designer for Lucasfilm's Red Tails (2012).

Matthew Wood: As sound editor on The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, and the Star Wars: The Clone Warsanimated series, Matt Wood also provided the voice of General Grievous and the chatty battle droids.

David Acord: David Acord worked as assistant sound editor on both Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, and is currently sound designer on the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series. He has provided the voices for such characters as Rotta the Huttlet, A-4D and C-21 Highsinger.
